I was born and raised in Metro Detroit and I think I’；ll always be a city girl. There is something about the energy and grit of a big city that I just can’；t get enough of. For many， Detroit evokes thoughts of automobiles， music and the Motown sound， or more recently hip hop and rap， and maybe Vernors Ginger Ale if you’；re a local.
Founded in 1701， Detroit has a rich history and unique agglomeration of architectural monuments， theatres， churches， entertainment venuesmost popular housewarming gifts， and neighborhoods. While Detroit was once a thriving metropolis， it has struggled in recent decades， leaving many of its architectural gems to fall into disrepair. However， Detroit has not lost all of its treasures. Detroit is currently experiencing an upswing， with restoration and revitalization occurring in pockets all over the city. Many objects are ready and waiting to be restored if you know where to find them. If you’；re looking for a statement piece， collectables， the perfect patina， or some great Americana， you don’；t have to drive out to the country to find it! Join me as I walk through the Detroit Antique Mall， a 12，000 square-foot multi-level， multi-dealer， establishment in the heart of downtown Detroit， Michigan.personalized graduation frames
Objects are stacked from floor to ceiling over the two floors of the mall and many of the best finds can be found hanging overhead. This is just a small selection of the stained glass windows. Even more stained glass pieces， including more windows， and also doors and light fixtures， are displayed all over the space.
Similarly， the second floor ceiling is host to a tremendous selection of retro pendant lights.
The selection of perfectly distressed storage solutions is amazing! If you’；re looking for a place to display your own vintage finds or art supplies， they have a box， crate， tray， or trunk for that!
This wall of grates caught my eye. In particular， the pop of color from the bright orange， cool green， and rich burgundy paint.
How cool would any ceiling or feature wall become decorated with these amazing metal tiles!？
This is just one of many of the old typewriters that grace the shelves. I also saw a vintage cash register.
Spring is in the air. Any one of these decorative iron gates would look amazing in a garden.
In the same way， I would love to have this weathered stone piece in my backyard!
There is an amazing selection of finials and posts. These great pieces will add character and a touch of history to any space.
In contrast， there is a fantastic offering of smaller， more portable items， such as old books， magazines， sheet music， and games. I was somehow able to stop myself from scooping up all these old photos and postcards.
In the event that you find yourself near a large city during your travels with some extra time to spare， I hope you step out and explore!
Lastly， thanks for joining me on my journey as I recharged my gypsy soul! Until next time!~Dana Tatar
